Events
I love gathering people, having conversations and creating inspiring change. I have recently begun to concept, plan and organise both online and offline events. Many of these through AMFIs student led sustainability group Dirty Laundry or other AMFI groups. I am currently in the process of, with an amazing team, organising even more of these kind of events.
Fashion Revolution x Good Clothes Fair Pay
ECI Awareness Event
This event was brought into fruition to raise awareness and bring signatures to the Good Clothes Fair Pay, a campaign demanding living wage legislation, which requires 1 million signatures by June from EU citizens to push for legislation that requires companies to conduct due diligence in their supply chains and pay living wages. We hosted this event at Equals and invited community members, content creators, activists, journalists and change makers to join us in sharing this ECI with their wider social communities to help Good Clothes Fair Pay reach it’s target.
This event was hosted at Equals Amsterdam, a community where women* come together to support and empower each other in the growth and development of their careers. This awareness event was also supported by partners Fair Wear Foundation, Solidaridad and ASN and was held during the 2023 Fashion Revolution Week, an activism and event fueled week in which a global network of volunteers and community members come together to create change. Fashion Revolution Week also marks the anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh.
Dirty Laundry x AMFI
Sustainability Symposium
This symposium was designed with the goal of educating, inspiring and activating AMFI’s first year students to become change makers within the fashion industry and beyond. We hosted many panels, workshops and brainstorming sessions where we aim to introduce AMFI’s first year students to the fashion industry’s existing negative and damaging issues caused by the fashion industry while also looking towards the future and the larger picture of how they, as change-makers, can make a positive difference. These discussions allowed the students to frame current problems, create a deeper understanding and form a foundation to create inspiration and find solutions.
Through this event we were able to collaborate with and discuss sustainability with brands such as Vogue NL, Numero NL, Paro Store, Full Circle, Robin Retail, Makers Unite, Atalye, De Steek, OFFGRID Agency, MUD Jeans, PVH, Oritian and Studio DRIFT, and also with change-makers and influencers such as Kiki Boreel, Rashi Agarwal Favier and Benjamin Ergul.
Dirty Laundry x Diversity and Inclusivity
Identity Panel
Our panel was a part of a larger two weeklong chapter put on by AMFI's Diversity & Inclusivity, the chapter explored the theme of ‘Identity”. We wanted to explore a topic that fit into this theme and align it with selected industry experts that would inspire and educate the students. The discussion focused around how identity influences and impacts the work we do and we were able to explore a variety of issues that resonated with the students and teachers in attendance. Themes like how our identity evolves over time, the fashion industry and heritage. Our biggest takeaway was that we want to continue to bring experts to the students in new interactive ways.
Dirty Laundry
Focus Group
An open discussion with both teachers and second year students about sustainability at AMFI and how well teachers/students feel like it is incorporated into the curriculum. This was apart of a larger research report we were writing. While teachers do their best at including every aspect of sustainability into their classes, students still feel like there is a lot of room for improvement. Often, the topic feels more like an afterthought to them rather than a focus point
